I have an RE-201 Space Echo and I'm wondering if there would be any harm in running it without tape to just use the reverb without putting any wear on the heads, etc. I don't think the reverb itself utilizes the tape at all (correct me if I'm wrong) and all my efforts in making my own loops still won't eliminate that awful flutter at the splice point, so my thinking is to use a pedal for the slap-back echo, but run it through the Space Echo to get the reverb. I like the reverb on the 201 better than my outboard Fender tank.

Other people have also mentioned to me that they really like the sound of the space echo reverb. It should not hurt it to run it without tape as you described.
