Bought one recently on eBay. Cleaned the controls, cabinet, tubes/sockets, and did 'level 1' maintenance on the reverb unit; tighten nuts/bolts, cleaned drive belt/flywheel/capstan, oiled drive motor bearings, and added oil.

Didn't know how much to put in, used a 4 oz bottle and most ran out. Got it mopped, cleaned, and fired up. Volume pot not functional, don't understand what 'Direction' does; Reverb knob controls volume and depth. Footswitch functions correctly. Spacey, echo,...

I just obtained a Hofner 4578 VTZ (twin Florentine cutaways) thinline with built-in treble boost and fuzz control. Unfortunately, the previous owner had ripped out the active control panel and replaced with just a tone and volume pot. Can anyone help me locating a wiring diagram for the electronics?? The original control panel is shipped together with the guitar. Woul like to restore to its original condition.

THANKS.
Morgan Lin

I picked up this book recently that has the history of Guild from 1952 to 1977. This book is informative and the pictures put it up in the Great Guitar Porn category. It is written by Hans Moust who did an outstanding job. Pick up a copy and you will not be disappointed.

Richard~Oilcandelay~

Anybody else use Leslie type rotating speakers in their setups?
Do you use it more for rhythm or for leads? I have just started using one and even though it is a somewhat overused sound I like it. I am trying to achieve a nice rhythm organ tone so are there any recommendations or thoughts to getting a decent tone? I am using an ES-175 with P-90's and an Ampeg Gemini into an Oliver Sound Leslie type speaker cabinet.
Richard~Oilcandelay~<img...

Hi Oilcandelay,

Here is what I can tell you about the Juke amps. I first encountered one at a recording session I was playing drums on. This was a prototype model with 1-12" speaker and all the goodies I mentioned:varistor-driven vibrato, bias-modulated tremelo and the side-banded 3 knob reverb. It was a beautifully constructed amp and sounded killer. A year or so later there was another larger one on ebay that I bid on and when the reserve didn't pop at $1300, I decided I...

OK, what is your current guitar and amp setup? Are you pleased with your sound?
My current setup is an Ampeg Gemini IV amp with a GA-4RE Oilcan and the following guitars: Coral/Danelectro Longhorn, Harmony Espanada and a Gretsch Tennessean. Also a Leslie rotating speaker cabinet assembly is used with this setup on occasion. I actually like the vibrato/tremolo effect on the Gemini.
~Oilcandelay~
