Just picked up the 4 CD boxed set of Eddie Cochran. This is absolutely great. Sure some of the material is a little ragged and sounds very dated (hey it was recorded in the 50's) but this guy really rocked. His influence on rock music as we know it is undeniable. This guy could really play guitar.

The box set is getting harder to find so pick it up if you get the chance.

Richard~Oilcandelay~

Just got put on the guest list for Hellbound Hayride'ss new CD release party coming up in 2 weeks. I have been listening to their 2 previous CD's continually, Stampede and Sinner. Both are excellent CD's. Eddie Wilson the vocalist and songwriter is unique in his delivery and a breath of fresh air compared to what I have heard lately. The guitar playing is also great.
Richard~Oilcandelay~

I am listenig to the Essential Recordings of Pee Wee Crayton a compilation of his Modern and Imperial recordings. Does anybody know what his guitar and amp set up were at that time? On the cover he has some big ol' hollow body Gibson with what looks like a Charlie Christian pickup. I believe in his later career he used a strat.
Richard~Oilcandelay~

Do very many members get out and hear live music? Two weeks ago I went to see Blazing Haley, Los Creepers, King Rocker and Black Monday. Blazing Haley is an excellent pyschobilly group and I highly recommend their CD's. The other groups are typical Mexican Pyschobilly/punk.

Also had the chance to see an acoustic set by some of the members of Hellbound Hayride. It was a fun and humorous set. Their CD's are great and they have a new live CD coming out this month.

Being...

Another off topic topic. OK what are you currently listening to on your CD/record/tape/mp3 player? Lately I have been listening to mp3's by the Seatsniffers and the Alley Dukes. On CD I have been listening to the Stillmen, High Noon, Go Cat Go, the Riff Randells, Miles Davis and the Big 6.
~Oilcandelay~
